Maratus clupeatus, a species of Peacock Spider, endemic to Western Australia. Males of this tiny species is renowned for its vivid, metallic colours and shield-like abdomen – often just a few millimetres long, they perform intricate leg movements whilst fanning their abdomen to impress females. This captivating spider, found in dry woodlands and coastal regions, is beautifully showcased in this photograph, highlighting its colour and environment. This individual was found in bushland in Craigie.
