Maratus gemmifer, a striking Peacock Spider species, is known for its jewel-like colours and intricate mating dance. Endemic to the southern part of Western Australia, the male showcases a vibrant display of iridescent blues and reds, using his raised abdomen and leg movements to woo potential mates. Found in dry forest areas, this species can be found on vegetation or on the ground amongst leaf litter. This individual was found in bushland in Baldivis.
